NOvember.
So, in honor of November I'm taking on NOvember. Meaning:
NO junk food
NO complaining
NO negative attitude
NO laziness
NO backing out
NO excuses

I'm doing it this time. I'm dedicating the entire month to making myself healthier and happier. I've been saying that I would do this for a long time now and this year I'm actually doing it. I plan on running at least three days a week, finding healthier meals to eat every day, and staying a positive as I possibly can. These are going to be rough changes to make and this month will be even harder but it is possible. I'm going to make it happen. I'll do my best to make weekly posts keeping track of my progress and changes. Wish me luck!

Homecoming.

Homecoming for us is in about a week and I haven't been asked. This means the night of the dance I will be: a) watching movies at home, eating ice cream and painting my nails OR b) doing some kind of outrageous anti-homecoming ritual with my friends. (Most likely the first one.)
I'm extremely stereotypical when it comes to these things; sue me.
I don't really know what it is about this particular dance, but every single year I have been pining to go. I mean, it's just about the same thing as prom (which I absolutely hated) but for some reason it sounds SO much more appealing to me than prom ever did.
Let's compare shall we?
Homecoming:
  • Lots of hype... no real reason for the hype.
  • Dresses (short dresses)
  • Heels
  • Corsages
  • Boutinieres
  • Limos
  • Lots of pictures
  • VERY minimal dancing
Prom:
  • Lots of hype... still no reason for it.
  • Dresses (long dresses)
  • Heels
  • Corsages
  • Boutinieres
  • Limos
  • Lots of pictures
  • VERY minimal dancing
So what's the difference here?
Dress length?
Conclusion: I want a reason to buy a cute short dress.

Cool.

Guess what. I'm not sorry.

I've been thinking about it a lot lately; I'm always comparing myself to other people, thinking I couldn't possibly be friends with this person or have someone "like that" be interested in me, constantly apologizing for who I am. But guess what. I'm not sorry. I'm really not. Because who I am is good enough for me.
I am fearfully and wonderfully made
Psalm 139:14
I always seem to forget that. I'm usually busy worrying about what he thinks, what she thinks, what they think. When really all that matters is what He thinks and what I think. And I think that I like who I am. I like who he has made me.

I like that I am the type of person who will willingly wear a tiara all day on my birthday to make these little ones happy.

I like that even though I have an extreme fear of horses ( being near them, riding them, the sounds they make. yeah.) None of that stops me from the extreme love I have for them.

I like that my friend and I are able to laugh off ripping and falling right through her hammock instead of thinking we're "fat".

I especially like that I am finally able to realize that I am who I am for a reason and there are people who love me for who I am. If I'm not "good enough" for someone that isn't my burden it is theirs.
I am happy with who I am.
Finally.

Friends Since.. A long time.

So today, I spent a good portion of the day with my long-time best friend Megan.
This is Megan(and me when we were.. 10?):
... and this is us when we were 13:
...and this is us now:
Usually because of both of our schedules (mostly mine I'll admit it, Meg) we haven't really spent a whole lot of time together in the past two or three years. Still, she is, without a doubt my very best friend. Megan is the cutest little person I know. She says things that make me laugh hysterically and she is just the absolute sweetest! And SO talented. She takes amazing pictures (she'll probably just tell you that "it's just because I have a good camera.", but it's definitely not that) she has a fantastic eye. Well, just look for yourself.
(Recognize this little lovely from my first post?)
So basically she's amazing right? Right.
Anyway, we spent the day (after school) perusing Anthropologie, talking about our classes and the interesting people in them, and eating some seriously delicious food.
It was a great day.
(Megan please don't hate me for posting your pictures. I just love them!)

Also, you can take a peek at her blog right over here.

Blogging is a science.

Hi everyone! I would like to take a minute BEFORE I actually introduce myself to say thank you for taking a minute out of what I'm sure is abusy day to read my blog! I'm brand new to this whole blogging thing so please be patient with me. I was seriously struggling to make this blog look all pretty like those other fancy blogs I like to read and let me tell you: it took me a good hour to get it look the way it does. Blogging is a science my friends; a science that I know nothing about. Nothing. So if anyone has any handy-dandy pointers for me I would be more than grateful if you would leave them in the comment thingy-ma-jig down below this somewhere... And I will now step off of my soap box and hop onto my other soap box to tell you a bit about myself..

Anyway, my name is Shea Kathryn. I'm a senior in high school, approaching what I'm sure with be the most stressful few months of my life thus far: college applications & admissions. (So bear with me.) I'll be sharing my thoughts on everything from clothes, boys (I'm a teenager people, it's bound to come up), school, friends, faith, and love. I hope you'll enjoy going with me on this little journey this year and hopefully for years to come!
